found this for a sensible price..

then there are kits like:
http://www.unit-8.co.uk/acatalog/EP3_Induction_Kit...
that go up to 500 quid for carbon fibre air box assemblys.
not sure what is best. i just want a good filter for the car and the nice noise it will make

http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/ - they have the itg filter and they have the BMC CDA induction kit, IMO the best one out, especially for the price.
Search by car and put 2.0 in the keyword bit.

Don't buy that spoon drop-in filter - it's a disgrace they're charging that much, really very bad of spoon indeed. Some of their stuff is great, but they're taking the piss with that. It also performed worse than the competing filters from ITG and K&N, which are both 1/2 the price or less.
For intake systems, either go for a closed box system, such as ITG Maxogen / Gruppe M / BMC CDA. Or an AEM CAI (the one that sits in the wheel arch - but beware of hydrolock).
Don't go for one of the open cone filters that sits in the engine bay. They sound loud, but they will just suck up hot air and the heat soak will lose you power and throttle response.
Hope this helps.

yeh it seems like a rip off. are you recommending closed boxed systems? i was just looking for something that sounds a bit better and if i get slightly better preformance/engine breathing then thats a complete bonus. so i am not sure what to get. dont want heatsoak crap so I wont be getting k+n induction or anything like that.
That's why the BMC is such a good buy. It's almost as good as the really expensive ones but is half the price. It just needs a bit more fiddling with than the others.
I think panel filters do make some difference, a slight mpg increase and they make an engine more free-revving. I guess tho this is why you dont notice it as much on an already very free-revving engine like a Honda's.

I used to have the Mugen kit on mine. Although not very 'bling', the kit is designed to work well, not look well.
The supplied closed airbox is not baffled like the OEM item and is fitted with a panel, rather than cone filter. The result is about 20% more airflow according to Mugen. The Mugen box is also significantly lighter than the OEM box and is manufactured to fit like a glove into the engine bay.
At the front of the system, the standard nozzle (which turns 90 degrees down towards the ground right behind the upper front grill) is replace by one which feeds straight from the air flowing into the upper grill, right by the Type-R badge.
The idea of the kit is to provide a better rate of airflow and at as constant a temperature as possible.
In terms of noise, the Mugen kit sounds very similar to the standard system at low cam, and there is a distinctive resonating growl as it changes to high cam which sounds very, very similar to the standard boxes fitted to the B series engined Hondas.

lol, I think I've acheived the same result on my humble Accord by sticking an ITG filter in the standard box, but removing all the resonator crap and just having a short length of pipe that points to the front fog light blank plate, which I've removed. I get the exact same thing, normal noise at cruise/non-vtec but when vtec kicks in it growls like a CTR and sometimes you see people look round expecting one and being very surprised when they see a snot-coloured 9 year old Accord.
