Any other FD2 owners here?

Well I've done a few reviews on a number of websites but i'll write a new one here, no point recycling the same stuff.
A bit about my background; I come to the FD2 having driven a facelift ATR for the past 4 years. During that time I've also driven EP3s, DC2s, DC5s S2000s and the FN2. I also been out in some pretty crazy cars that mates or theirs dads own, been on a few track days and have driven a Ferraris, Porches etc. on track too.
FD2 - What would I say? An uncompromising drivers car that delivers performance in spades. The car is very taunt and the suspension is firm. Coupled with the RE070s and their super stiff sidewall means this takes no prisoners. However the turn in & grip of the car is unbelievable. The diff is pretty aggressive and it is pretty much impossible to unsettle the car. Set it up for a corner, turn in and it just grips. More throttle and turn it in tighter and it just responds.
The power is brutal. 5800rpm passes with little drama, you notice the uptake in rpm, induction noise and acceleration but it feels more like VTEC comes in at 7000rpm such is the increase in pace at that point (I think this is due to peak power being lowered to 6800 rpm). It's an awesome car to drive and a real drivers car. I use mine daily for work and for the shopping runs too without issue. Get it out on an open road though and you are in for a treat, it's a very angry car!
Downside, well few things for me, maybe more for others. I am not a family man so the hard ride and lack of a third seatbelt in the rear isn't a problem, however as a family car you would probably want to upgrade the suspension. Being JDM it is a bit more plasticky inside too. Doesn't bother me in the slightest but some ppl may not be so keen.
That's pretty much all I can think of for now. Car returns 31 + mpg on a long run, averaging around 26/27 around town over a full tank inc. VTEC action. Also worth knowing that Honda UK have the chassis numbers on their system so parts etc are not a prob.

Nice list...How does it compare to the other hot Hondas?!?
Not necessarily in terms of outright grip or acceleration (although that would be nice to know), but in terms of 'feel', feedback, poise, responsiveness, adjustability, and general hoon-ability??? And does it feel as/more 'special' to be in than any/all of those...
It's probably pretty clear from my post here or elsewhere how I feel about the car, it is awesome - by far the best Type R imho. The ATR was very underated, but those who stumbled across it easily found it could keep up with a DC2 and was a superb car to drive (5 stars in EVO and rated as one of the best front wheel drive cars ever). This is the reason I held on to it for so long - I couldn't find anything out there that I could justify replacing it with. Then the FD2 came on the scene and I haven't looked back.
I test drove a DC5 and a FN2 almost back to back with the FD2 and whilst it was most similar to the DC5, there was no real comparsion betwen the 2 in terms of how it felt to drive.
Steering input and feedback are spot on, thanks mainly to the hydraulic steering and stiff chassis. Hoon ability, well 8800rpm usually raises a smile

Giger I know that you looked at R32's prior to purchase and have read your comments on the accordr website (ADL_ATR is my login).
Think I need to go a test drive one of these because apart from the interior plastics etc the R32 is probably only going to be offering marginal 4wd benifits some of the time.
Even if I can get an R32 in white..
Just out of interest did you get yours from litchfields and how much was your insurance on the old ATR?

Hello mate, I knew that I recognized the name but hadn't put 2 & 2 together!
I was very unimpressed by the R32, lots of grunt but nothing special to drive imho & the DSG box made you feel even more removed from the car.
Got my car from Litchfields and can't praise them enough, after sales has been great and they are always keen to help you out with any issues or queries.
I was paying £390 FC for the ATR, now paying £640 for the FD2 which is amazing for such a high powered factor new import.
I was very unimpressed by the R32, lots of grunt but nothing special to drive imho & the DSG box made you feel even more removed from the car.
