How can i get a Honda Civic Type R K20a JDM Engine?
Discussion
Hi
First of all apologies that my first post is question, I have been reading PH for a while now but never posted.
Need to get hold of a 2 ltr Honda JDM K20a Type R engine from a Civic type R or a Interga Type R (same engine). Its the 220bhp model (the UK spec is only 198bhp).
I know these are hard to get hold of but where would you start? I have asked various Jap import companies but so far no luck.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I only need the engine and I would like it with as low a mileage as possible. No ancillaries needed.
Thanks in advance
Skilly

Have you tried API? http://www.apiengines.com/petrol.php
They source a lot of engines from Japan and could probably get you one, at a price.

There's usually a steady stream on eBay. Like this, or this one.
You might also pop over to www.seloc.org - the Elise guys can't seem to get enough of them and might be able to recommend one supplier over another.

Thanks for the replies, I have tried Ariel - no luck.
Don't get me started on Ebay - I ordered on from the Motor Supplier 3 months ago and its just been one excuse after another. Hopefully I will be getting a refund on the 14th. All I can say is STAY AWAY from those two companies (check out the feedback on the other company).
I will post on Seloc and see what they say.

what's the difference between the uk and jdm units, if it's intakes/manifolds/cams etc, would it not be worth uprating a uk lump? just a thought...
If its anthing like the difference between the UK VTi and SiR/Type R civics of old the JDM versions will have slightly higher compression ratio's, slightly wilder second cam profiles and the power quoted will be on 100 ron fuelMarf said:

Drop the compression to about 9.5 and add a blower/turbo.
