The one I'd like to see someone do is the new UKM type-R versus the new JDM type-R.. throwing in the old UKM Type-R would be the icing on the cake. Don't think Honda UK would be that happy though.
Simes.
They did it on 5th gear, JDM was awesome, UKM one was erm.. not quite as good Simes.

Which is the old Type-R?
Well, if you're a purist that'll be the original NSX Type R. But realistically it's the DC2 Integra Type R, quickly followed by the EK9 Civic Type R. After that came the Accord and then the breadvan Civic, then the DC5 Integra of BTCC fame and the AP2 NSX-R...and after that it was all downhill until the JDM-model FD...[/pedant mode]
Note to OP - just because Honda UK are crap, no excuse for forgetting that there are a fair-few Honda Type R's around...try using the car name, eh? Especially as the Civics (post-EK9) have typically been the 'worst' Type R's...

I thought there was no such thing as an NSX Type-R only an NSX-R

I'm fairly sure the original (1992) one WAS a Type-R, while the later AP2 variant was just -R.
Ready to be proved wrong though...

The FN2 always seems to have attracted some lukewarm reviews, but it really did look like a retrograde step in this review. Severely bested around the track by its older brother, which is better handling and faster in a straight line. Also more expensive.
It seems that the only things it has going for it is better styling and safer. Certainly a much poorer driving machine if thats to be believed, which is quite ironic, as I didnt think the EP3 was all that when I drove one.
Maybe they should have called it a "Type-S" instead, because I see very little "Race" like about it.
That said, I still prefer the looks to the FD2, probably the best looking hot hatch out at the moment. Shame it hasnt got the ability to back up the looks. That said, still posted a faster time than the Golf GTI, which I was surprised about!

You are probably right there. Tracks are totally different, and I heard with the new Golf GTI they tried to copy the older ones, and my Mk2 had a pretty compliant ride for what it was....
The FN2 is really a bit of a disgrace to the Type-R name, and IMO a little insulting that they think they can con the Brits with this cop off of a hot hatch, but then again, that spikey haired tosser who clarkson was arguing with on TG tonight is the whole reason why they KNOW they can get away with it.

Get the styling right and the brand right and you can get away with anything...it's been the Audi formula for years! Also Alfa, to a lesser degree...
After all, how many people buy a hot-hatch for it's handling finesse?!? And how many for power/grip/image?!?
How come they classed the new one as slower than the old one when the old one did a laptime of 1:36.5, see http://www.topgear.com/content/tgonbbc2/laptimes/t...
and the new one did 1:33.something last night?
Wet lap in the old one?? if that was the case theres not that much in it.
