OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS ME
Discussion
Well all i managed to say was F**K a DUCK as i got out of the drivers seat of my mates CTR. Its bascially standard other then running some very sticky Yoko's, Filled up with Optimax i was allowed to take her out for a spin, i ventured down the Alkham Vally just outside Dover then on down to Lydd. Nice and quiet roads, open, flat, no blind corners, just off-camber bends, rolling straights and some seriously tricky but attackable complexes. The car is unbelieveable, it has only made me want one more.... Christ on Vetch mode the car was spinning up in second, so much fun. So envious of all of you, very very lucky indeed. I will be getting one for sure in the new year, then i think a trip around the green hell is well up on the agenda. Just thought i would let you all know how much fun i had, take it easy peeps.

What really makes this car quick (apart from the brilliant suspension set up) is the amazing braking system allowing for last of the late brakers fun (on the track). On the roads it feels absolutely as quick A to B as my Chimaera 450, perhaps quicker especially on anything other than good quality bone dry roads because it's so well-balanced and totally unflustered by poor quality patched surfaces that are typical of the roads around here. (It does, however, lack the soul of the TVR and I find myself struggling to have anything other than a platonic relationship with the CTR).
I don't know if anyone has had the pleasure of driving down to lydd, and on to dungoness but the roads are seriously fast, as you mentioned the CTR handles fantastically over patchy tarmac, i could feel the tires fautlesly holding the loose surfaces as it plowed through corner after corner..... Every time i down shifted and held the revs through a long corner and opened up the taps right on vtech i could'nt stop smiling! The landscape down that way lends it's self to fast driving, it's mainly derestricted (60mph) but being so flat you have the ability to see the oncoming traffic (or sheep!)in plenty of time. Its also quite a favorite with the local biking chapter and the boys go down for a bit of racing on there rice rockets. I had a good shake down in the car and the only thing that i noticed is it can get quite bumpy, and the rear kept twitching out, espically on reverse camber corners....
I had a great hour or so in the car and it only confirms that its excatly what i want... roll on Jan is what i say..

That's really the only downside - particularly if you spec the 19" Rage alloys with the accompanying skinny band of licorice (and you should spec these - the visual effect and absence of any sidewall flex are both worth having). But it is (quite) bumpy - there's sections of the M20/M26/M25 that are almost uncomfortable at the speed limit (and probably above) when the chop kicks in.VTECMatt said:
I drive that route every Friday quite often in my Civic but not nearly as much fun as in my Elise
That surprises me that a low, lightweight, mid-engined, rwd 2 seater is more fun to drive on twisty roads than a fwd hatch that is nearly twice as heavy. Thanks for the insight.
