Honda IPOD link thing
Discussion
We just bought a new CRV with the iPod link. Waste of money IMHO.
you have to set up playlist(s) otherwise all you get is radom play from the whole selection on the iPod.
you can have up to 7 playlist (Honda 1 - Honda 7) - note the names have to be precise.
so instead of being able to select and artist or albulm to listen to you select a playlist - as if it were a CD.
haven't found a way to quickly select a specific song either.
strangely enough the controls for the PC Card seem to allow you to select by many of the options the iPod controls don't allow.
summary - I am pretty sure I wasted money getting the iPod cable.

I have not noticed the CRV pulling to the left. That said it is a fairly boring drive. And it leans while corning more than I like.
Our previous car was a Honda Stream which, for an MPV, was fairly involving to drive. The CRV on the otherhand always feels, not remote, but uninvolving. You don't really feel the road or directly linked to it.
Best description is that it feels like there is a magic carpet that seperates you the driver from the parts of the car that actually do the driving.
I can't complain because, as this is the family car, that is sort of what I was looking for. There is little to no temptation to play racing car driver in the CRV.
That said the family loves it.
Take a look at the PC card for playing music. It is standard (at least on the EX) and looks like it will do a better job than the iPod link (and you can save the iPod for other things/cars).

thanks a lot. The other half drove an 07 ex today. Do you have the safety pack? She says this one did not pull, which means as I suspected it was a rare thing, but not that rare, as a quick check on a crvoc forum showed me.
I wonder when the 08 model gets launched. The US one (08 model) appears to have quite a few things added to the spec.

I didn't buy the saftey pack. the improved lights I would have really liked, but the cruise control stuff scares me because they could make it easier for people to pay less attention while driving. unfortunately Honda don't let you pick and choose. If I could have had the lights without the rest I would have.
