I have a civic 1.5 lsi the ek version at the moment and was looking to do a vti conversion? Any ideas as to wether its a good idea because currently i'm only 19 so i cnt get insured on a vti it self. I was wondering wether a turbo kit would be any good as well as the vti engine conversion or just the turbo kit by itself, most probably 8psi?

What BHP will i be looking at if everything went as planned?

The LSi - VTi swap isn't a huge job if you know what you're doing, and you'd end up with arround 160-165bhp without any other mods.

If you were going to do an engine swap I'd recommend getting an accident damaged VTi and using that as a doner car, then sell on what you have left.

No experience with turbo'ing a VTi or LSi engine, only the D16, so I'd recommend trying the link above.

But wouldn't getting insurance for an engine swapped civic with or without a turbo, be even harder than just for a standard vti?!

I would of thought so, and if the OP intends on not telling his insurance company he may as well just forget all about insurance or buy a vti and tell them he's done a lsi conversion.

be cheaper to just buy a vti.
