Hi guys, I was actually contemplating either a cone or panel filter for my (54 plate) 1600 Civic sport soon, I know a lot of people said before, don't do it, its a 1600, its not worth spending the money on, but i do disagree, its a great car, i love how it feels, and i think 30-150 spent on something like this, would be fine, i plan to keep the car a few years at least!

A bit more of a roar whilst accelerating would be nice, but at the same time i don't want anything deafening/chavvy, just a bit more noticable grunt, so i'm really in 2 minds as to what to go for!

Any advice, would really be apreciated! smile

Thanks

filters on any civic are just for noise, do you really want to spend 30-150 just so the peelers round the corner can hear you before they see you :P

Not quite as straight forward as that though - CAI will sound less raucous than an SRI, and your engine note coupled with the exhaust will be what alerts the blues & twos brigade just as much, if not more.
Most SRI will rob you of power due to being open under the bonnet sucking in warm air.
CAIs will pull cooler air due to being down behind the front of the bumper.
Best compromise is a larger/modified airbox with any ribs dremeled off.
That and a slightly freer flowing filter.

Ok, thanks for that, like said before its not a case of wanting it really loud or anything like that, but maybe just more of an audible grunt for me, under acceleration, not all times smile

Same answer I always give - buy an ITG panel filter, or a BMC CDA induction kit.

Having said that, I couldn't find an ITG for my Accord so I got a K&N.

I have removed the resonator box from behind the offside wing, the bloody thing weighed 5 or 6kg. It's noisier at full acceleration in vtec but fine at cruising and it definitely drives that little bit more freely.

I see, thanks mate smile will have to have someone else do any work for me, as sadly when it comes to mechanics, i'm pretty clueless frown but would you have any recommendations on where to get the ITG Panel Filter or BMC CDA Induction Kit?

Thanks smile

A bit O/T: I'd like to fit 4 bike Mikuni's on my 5th gen Civic 1.3.

This done before? 36 or 38 mm's?

Should be fun . . .
