I have read that cars with big alloys can be subject to tramlining. Anyone know if this affects the Accord diesel Executive 2004 model?

Cheers

It's more an issue with the Pentas, but they all can do more or less, dependant upon the tyres fitted and the pressure inflated to.
Bit of experimentation on the latter removes a fair bit of the "problem".
I'll have a set of Epsilons coming up for sale soon, once refurbed and the new ones fitted.
Have you also joined us in www.thaoc.co.uk?
What colour is yours?

Cheers for this. I haven't bought one yet. I am looking at a diesel Executive, 2004 with 69K miles and a full history. Not sure about the colour though.

Seller says: "the colour is a rich looking metallic smokestone grey"

It has cream leather inside and looks smart but I am not sure the grey goes with the cream leather. I have read of tramlining with big alloys but wonder how the tyre tread 'knows' how big the wheel is. Is it due to low profile tyres being less flexible?

Sounds like Satin Silver Metallic as opposed to Graphite Pearl.
The Ivory interior does sound a bit odd for that colour, but I prefer it as it's much lighter than the black.

More here on tramlining:

You are very helpful. Thanks. The grey is very dark and I am now told it was a BT managers car and the full service history is with BT ( not Honda? )

Feeling unsure here !!!

Many thanks

BT obviously felt their service bods could do the routine servicing themselves better or for a lesser cost.
Wouldn't worry about that to be honest.
Dark grey indicates it is the Graphite Pearlescent - lovely colour, which the Pentas really look the part on.
Get a good extended test drive - and if you're not impressed, I'll come over there and blatter you with both your arms.

Fit V tread pattern tyres on the fronts (F1's, SP9000's, ZV3's etc). This cured severe tramlining on our Volvo S60 with 225/45/17's.

You are tempting me. smile

I also note it is chain cam which solves the cambelt issue. smile

So it's curable as PJ S suggests. Thanks to both.

I've got Yokohama AVSdB tyres all round on my Accord 2.4 Type-S and they tramline really badly if they are under inflated, put them up to around 33 front and 31 rear and the tramlining is history.

That's interesting, we have a 2.4 Type S Tourer and I have noticed it tramlines a bit. Not sure what tyres are on it, although it came with big alloys and low profile tyres (optional extra)

I'll check it out at the weekend when the wifes not using it smile

I had the Type-S saloon with the 17" Pentas on it. I always fitted it with P Zero Rossos, never really had any tramlining issue at all in more than 120,000 miles.

I also did a lot of miles in the diesel version, though it had the standard 16" sized wheels on it, again no tramlining. The diesel has stiffer front suspension than the petrol so I'd imagine it'd tramline more than the petrol versions if fitted with the larger wheels and lower profile tyres, though.

Yesterday I caught a thick white line and the car skipped sideways again. It was noticed by my wife. Oooer

I have Goodyear Eagles F1 on the front inflated to 33lbs and 30 lbs in the rears.
