S2000 is hungrier than the 'teg Russ...all those extra ponies to feed!
So far in the S I've had between 31 and 22...31 was a long run to York and back, 22 was B-roads all the way. Average is more like 26/27.
'teg...my first one I got anywhere from 28 to 35 in. This one seems to be around the 30/31 mark, but I'm doing more short journeys.
The ITR forum is definitely your friend as far as info goes, and IIRC has a couple of links to buying guides. Are you looking to keep it stock or to modify it?!?

That's import-only ones. UK cars didn't change spec at all, and were half-way between the '96 JDM and the '98 JDM.'98 JDM benefits:
- 16" alloys (looked the same);
- Revised suspension to match;
- UK-spec brakes ('96 brakes were adequate only);
- Allegedly more powerful engine (better exhaust manifold certainly), but benefits (10bhp more) measured on 100RON, not 97RON.
...there might be a couple of other bits, but that's pretty-much it.
Also, the Type-Rx model (98-spec plus bits) is very rare and gets options, including stuff like folding mirrors and (IIRC) climate not manual aircon.
Oh...and the -Rx definitely had HIDs...not sure if the '98s did as well.

You could say that...
Still...better pads, good disks (NOT EBC!!! Brembo/AP Dixcel/Mintex seem to be favoured), new fluid and you're good-to-go for the odd trackday.
Beyond that and your wallet could take a pounding...oh, and expect the dampers, clutch, and selector forks/synchro to need quicker replacement...possibly the diff too...
My 2p...the car is fantastic out of the box. I'm going to do little to my new one, just the following:-
- DS2500 pads;
- Rear cross-brace;
- Probably a HID conversion.
Breathing...don't think there's anything on the market that's definitively better than the OEM airbox & filter, believe it or not...but you can see gains with a better ex. manifold...

98spec is NOT 10hp more.
JDM 98spec has:
16" lightweight racing rims
better suspension
HID
bigger brakes
an so on .. .

The iTR is good on gas when you dont use vtec all day long. ive had a 98spec 4door ITR ^ use it as my daily driver and hillclimb car on the weekend. wins every event in its class and 3rd overall, just behind EVOs and Battys. with a home-made mugen intake i ran a 14.1 @ 162kmh so its good for that reason to. I'm looking to spend up to 7k on a round headlight DC2.

so overall i would def. reccomend the 98spec itr as a awesome allround car. then when you get sick of it. . .turbo it. problem solved

Are you sure the JDM98 has bigger brakes than the UKDM?!? I thought they were both 282x23 vented?!?
Oh...and re: bhp...I'm sure there's more than one bit of info suggesting '98's had 197bhp on 100RON?!?
Either way, yes it's the 'best' ITR...but for me the differences are so little, once you factor the extra cost of owning an import (insurance esp...), that it comes down to which front you like better...
UKDM and '98 spec have identical brakes.
The biggest reason to get an import now is the fact they haven't had been exposed to a decade of salty English winters
The Mugen intake is highly regarded, but I'm not sure I'd have fancied tackling the recent extreme weather with a trumpet in my wheel arch, certainly not round here

Check for worn syncros on gearbox.Decent service history of some sort.
Worn seat bolsters (you can buy replacements however)

Had my UKDM 2000 model for over three years now, and I still enjoy driving it. Its reliable, fun, cheap to run, reasonably practical (large boot area!) can take four people if needs be, and will take a trackday with barely any mods - uprated pads the first mod I'd suggest.
Get hold of a back copy of last Augusts EVO magazine and read about what they think of them
Is there not a difference in rear bumpers between 98 spec's and the rest? Sorry i am not 100% sure i am just going off what i have picked up off Tino and his brother as they import cars now and again.
with regards to import vs UK for rot and general car conditon - I have been under a few newly imported Jap cars and they have been unbelievable. So clean you could eat your dinner off them. Whereas my UK Civic was a pain in the arse to work on after 12 years on the UK roads.
Of course there are exceptions but my next car will be a Import.

It's very, very clean, but the guy said because it's just been imported, theres now history at all. Is this common? Also, really naive/newbie question i know but is the speedo in MPH, and display how many miles not km? I forgot to have a look earlier?
What do we think?
