Mugen Civic Type-RR
Discussion
Despite magazine claims that the JAS racing Civic Type-R was called the Type-RR, this is the first car to be officially named "Type-RR".....
Ok, so its not actually made by Honda themselves, but still, Mugen are quite closely related back in Japan.
240bhp & 160lb/ft. 15mm lower than the JDM Civic on which its based and 66lbs lighter. They are only making 300 cars though. Sickeningly at current exchange rates the car is about £19500 on the road in Japan.

Oh god! that in white would be so sweet.
19k in japan, what would it be here?
A standard JDM Civic Type-R is £23k, so i imagine a Mugen version would be closer to £25k .. it's undoubtedly a brilliant car [going on the Evo reviews], but price tag aside - i just can't get my head round those looks It's prettier than a Scoobie, but no way near the previous Accord Type-R which i think is its closest saloon predecessor.19k in japan, what would it be here?

Hey Civ, didn't know you were here as well.
Richy - somewhere north of £28K all in, probably.

We gotta have somewhere sane to go at times
rekon your right on the UK price of the RR, however, thats only if you can get one. The car goes on sale on 13/09/ in Japan and seeing as there are only 300 you can bet they are all sold. And of course if the exchange rates change for the worse expect the price to be even higher.
If you want a white Mugen than its the non limited model for you which comes in a lovely shade of white pearl and funnily enough looks even more extreme than this one, despite being a "lower" spec....
I know I'm right - spoke to Litchfields today, and they worked it out at, at least £30K.
With the exception of a couple of bits probably, you could Mugenize the regular JDM CTR to get within 8-9/10ths of the Official one for a lot less ££££.
They dyno'd a CTR recently - 235 bhp, and 246 with guaranteed 97 RON fuel. And that was at less than 1K on the clock, so the engine is still a bit tight.
And it can be had in white - which is worth the £8.7K difference alone!
Be interesting to see what Spoon bring to the table in due course, along with the regulars - J's Racing, Amuse, etc.
Here's one already "enhanced".

Did you even bother to read the thread title?
Here's a little clue:
Mugen Civic Type-RR
Now, I ask you in all sincerity, where in this thread (based on that title) do you think your '94 hatch's seats fit?
edit - you're new to forum life, aren't you? And when you registered, you just clicked OK without having read the unwritten rules, didn't you?

back on the subject...ahem
Honda has kept the type R badge without spoiling it, unlike some manufacturers such as Bmws 'M' is just not a big deal anymore. This car is the bees knees!!!

Dont get me wrong beemers and aspecially the 'M's are great but i still think they've lost that powerful image could be because of so many other competitors flooding the market. i think the late 80s beemers + Alpinas are fantastic.
I know what you mean about the type R here in the uk, but over in japan its still kicking down doors and i dont think its lost its way. ive never been the bigest fan of the '02 Type R (uk) whats the model No. for that?
I really like the Ek9.

the FN3 still got rated 3rd best drivers car by AutoExpress (behind the Cayman S and Audi R8) - just think how the 'proper' 225bhp type-R would have fared.RichyBoy said:
Is it as good as a evo 9 because prereg evos seem to be around the 26k mark which is about the same as a jdm civic with uprated shocks, engine mods and insurance is similar for both cars?
performance - no, driver/fun/involvement - perhaps/yes?, running costs - yes! i'm assuming it's similar to the EP3 civic. if only Honda imported it officially - then it might be cheaper than 23k. also i don't think uprated shocks are neccessary?Edited by fido on Sunday 2nd September 01:08
FN2 fido, not 3.
Shocks are pretty much stiffer than the UK roads demand, so a softer set with adjustability for long distance driving without getting a sore arse are being developed.
Car can be had for around £20K if you look beyond the obvious.
Running costs - short term and long term will be much much less than the 4wd rally reps.
With 240 bhp out of the crate, you've the best part of nigh on 25% more than the FN2 spaceship.
I'm getting very tempted by the FD2, and just might go for it if things I'm working on turn out as planned/hoped. Need the practicalities of a 4-dr, so the FN2 is not even a contender.
