Since I first had the car I was aware of a very slight whilstly chirp which lasts only a second when I first put my foot on the throttle to accelerate from cruising speed. It sounds a little like an induction leak to me but I wondered whether this was one of those 'they all do that sir' characteristics.

There are no running problems with my car apart from occasional kangerooing when at low revs in heavy traffic, which is attributed to under bonnet heat build up. I am aware of MAP sensor issues on these cars but don't think mine suffers.

Any thoughts?

I've never noticed mine doing it.

I get the kangarooing *very* occassionally but I put it down to my poor clutch control!

No the kangerooing is cause by heat soak. It normally happens when you have been driving pretty hard and then end up in slow moving traffic on hot days. When you try to pull away instead of sucking in cold dense air (obtained by airflow through the car at speed) it sucks in hot air sat in the engine bay!

There are plenty of aftermarket intakes available. My earlier car seemed to suffer from this more. Since upgrading to an 05 plate a couple of years back it seems far less prone to it!

Its good for making you look really silly in traffic though.............

I'm sure heat soak is potentially an issue but tightening up the throttle cable as suggested on s2ki worked wonders on the throttle response.
