On the s2k is there a lower rev limiter for when the car is cold? I only ask as I pulled out of a road this morning when I thought the car had warmed .. gave it some beans in first and it cut out (like a rev limiter) at about 6.5 - 7 k revs...

Its not a something I make a habit of (ragging cars when cold) was just wondering.. smile

VTEC linked to engine temp, I believe. No warm oil, no go.
Same if stationary - no launching with VTEC engaged, so on the Accord that's 4K ish, it won't rev over that, IIRC. Not tested it to see first hand!
ECU does it, as one of the many parameters it monitors rather than being a secondary rev limiter.

Yes, I've done it once by accident. Seems like a good system to have.

How can you think that the oil had warmed up? It takes a good 5/10 minutes to warm up. Anyway, a god system as it stops those who underestimate how long oil takes to warm up and those ith little mechanical sympathy.

Something Audi's have is oil temp gauge, more (of not all) cars should have this.
