Honda Civic 1.6 Sport Query! :D
Discussion
Hi all, i'd just like to introduce myself, i'm Tim, new to this forum and have been linked here numerous times from the good folks @ overclockers.co.uk
Anyways, i'll quote in my post that i asked there about the car i fell in love with today and would really value the opinions of you folks and any advice you could give me!

Hey all, as mentioned in my last post i ws off the the car supermarket (available car, castle donnington) with the gf who was ooing & eeehing over all the minis she saw (Just gotta convince her to shell out the cash for one at some point now) I saw a couple of MG ZR's that until today i've been really really eager to change in my Fiesta for, then, i stumble upon this absolutely gorgeous beastie, Metallic Gray '04 Civic 1.6 Sport and am just wow'd, having seena few pics of that generation of civics around i was never that impressed, and the gear stick looked like a real PITA to me, god how wrong i was, the second i saw it my eyes lit up, looks amazing, feels great, comfy, tried a few shifts on the stick and it felt natural already, amazing and was just wowing over & over about how perfect it seemed as a step up from the 1.3 fiesta.
Sadly with 0 no claims after a bump last year i was worried about costs, but Elephant quoted me low £420's on 10 month bonus accelerator fully comp, so i was chuffed to say the least!
The car in question is £8,600, '04 and the only unknown factor is mileage as it was in the "just arrived" section, going to give them a call tomorrow to ask details on it.
Is the price for that car too much? Its in amazing looking condition, not a chip, dent or anything, i was loving the 8k rpm engine, spacious boot, 3 door (yep, i'm a 3door-holic as stated in the last post) with nice space in the back seats too, really was a joy and felt like my search for what i wanted to go to next was finally at an end!
I know it doesn't have the speed, power, handling etc.. of the Type-R and i'm not gonna pretend it does, but i'm sure it'll be nice, handle well, be quieter & easier on the motorway unlike the Fiesta.
The main thing is the price, what would really be an ideal price for this kind of age car? I know if i went for the 8.6k it way out of my budget and would have to half finance, but right now, i could really care less!!
Anyone?

For not much more than that you could have one of a similar vintage with average miles on it from a Honda dealer (do a search on the Honda website). There are a few '04 cars on offer with average miles at around £9k so call it £8.5k or thereabouts after a bit of haggling. Given that there tends not to be that much room in car supermarket prices, you won't be that far away with a Honda car and would get a much better warranty (given that an '04 car might have run out of original warranty).

Taking your feedback onboard i booked a test drive with this one, just to see how things are with it, and if it feels as good as it looks to me, 12:30 tomorrow it is!
I was looking on auto trader again, and spotted one more..2 miles from my gf's house, 54 Plate, 15,000 on the clock, slightly more expensive at £8.995 (As its a dealer i might be able to talk him down a wee bit?) but with 1.5 years of the original Honda warranty left which seemed pretty good to me!
Really tempted by this, you think that kind of price is looking ok? I'll more than likely have to do it on financ, of course, but thats really no issue as £170ish a month aint really gonna break the bank!
Thanks
