Afternoon all,

Basically i am trying to find out if there is an American equivalent to the UK spec 2 litre VTEC found in the Civic type-R, i think its known to the Honda tuners as a K20a for the UK version.

Any information on engine variants would be really appreciated.

Also info on the 2.2 VTEC (US version) would be handy IE is it any good?

Thanks.

AFAIK, the K20A is used in the US as well.

As for 2.2's in the US, the only ones I'm aware of are:-
- the F22C, which is a US and Japan-only variant of the S2000 engine, used only in that platform - inline lump;
- the H22_ (UK ATR and Prelude VTi) - transverse lump, not certain about the extent of the US applications but it's an older design and unlikely to still be in use.

Someone will be along to tell me there IS a K22_

Edit: Ah...a quick google reveals...

So it seems K22, K23 and K24 (used in UK new-Accord) blocks exist, although I'm wondering if the K23 pictured isn't an aftermarket bored/stroked version...

Out of interest, why are you looking at the US engines?

K20A is the JDM DC5R and EP3R spec engine.
K20a2 is the Euro EP3 and the USDM RSX TYPE-S.
K20a3 is the USDM base model RSX which is about 160bhp. (not too sure)
K20z1 is the 05-06 RSX TYPE-S engine.

A company i deal with are looking to purchase quite a few engines but thay are very scarce in the UK and so the prices have gone up for good used ones. If he can find a US variant that is the basically the same power etc he will source from the US. He would have gone to Japan but looks like someone has been buying them all up over there too.

Any more info?

Appreciate it.
