pop over to here

and ask ....most popular are HKS but there are variants from Amuse and Invidia.

Try changing the air intake 1st, induction noise is fabulous over 6k rpm and you don't get the drone from the exhaust.

I would go for the Mugen, lightweight, decent gains and sounds less chavvy than a lot of other systems.

Haven't heard any of the exhausts, but been quite impressed with the looks of the Amuse stuff.
Might also consider 5Zigen as well.
With respect to Mugen - overpriced IMO compared to what else is available. Bit like Sony a good few years ago (less so now) where a fair chunk of your money was purely for the brand name. Same stuff rebadged wouldn't have commanded the same outlay.

I have the HKS with de-cat and also the AEM V2 induction. great combo I think, sounds fantastic from 3000rpm up, I would never go back to standard now the extra noise is too addictive. I would advise getting the decat also with a HKS as it takes away most of the drone which in the first few weeks got painful at times.

I had an Amuse dual titanium exhaust on my second S2000 and it was truly a work of art. So much lighter than the stock exhaust with a nice note - and the blue tips looked very nice.

Alas, there appears to be a design problem with them. Shortly after I sold mine, it developed a marked rattle, as has happened to a number of other Amuse exhausts owned by people on s2ki.co.uk. The problem seems to be with one of the welds inside the can wearing and giving way.

Titanium welding is difficult but one of the owners found a place that could effect a repair - cost around £150, from memory.

This just shouldn't happen on an 18 month old exhaust that cost nigh on £1,500 to buy and import. Amuse washed their hands of it and didn't want to know.

My advice? As lovely as their kit is, steer clear of Amuse - or at least buy a second hand one (if one comes up - they're not exactly common) and preferably one that has had the repair done.

I had the original version of the HKS Hiper before the Amuse - a great bit of kit with a lovely deep exhaust note for less than half the cost of the Amuse.

I have heard the Invidia and HKS, the HKS is more subtle compared to the invidia which is very very loud.

In the end I went for Induction as I wasn't sure I could have lived with the noise on a regular basis.

Most of the people I have spoken to with straight through exhausts on their S2000's constantly talk about the drone from the systems and that they have to drive around it ..... If the car is a daily driver I know from previous experience that 'drone' at certain revs becomes very tiring and annoying - which is why the exhaust on my S2K is staying standard ! For a standard 2 litre system I think it's OK.

When you put your foot down and VTEC it would be great but in traffic or on a daily commute would you be so impressed ? Depends what your tolerances are and what you are using the car for / want from it.

We had concerns about droning and the jap upgrades we looked at were a real problem In the end we plumped for a Supersprint full system and it has that nice deeper sound with very little drone.

Mine is decatted. The car has just had it's first MOT; stuck the cat in the boot and got the dealers to put it on for the MOT and take it back off afterwards. £35.

Not much of an issue for the drone it eliminates on my system. (Invidia)

Hi Richard

Where did you get your Supersprint system from, was it local? How many pennies are we talking?

Got it from Scole Engineering who did me a deal. For the AP2 it was between £250-£350 for the middle pipe depending on whether you have the resonated section or not (We did) and then about £300 each for the rear boxes.

The whole thing is truly a work of art and very subtle. Took a few hundred miles to bed in, but throttle response is definitely better (don't ask me why) and it seems to pick up better from low rpm.
