It looks like I will be driving my Wife's car a fair bit more for the time being. It's an '03 1.6 Civic 5 door! Oooooh I hear you say. Worse still, it's an auto, so it lacks any form of accelerative force. OK, it has 110 horses from its 1.6 litres. Was just wondering if there were any tried and tested mods to release a few more ponies (maybe 20 or 30 more) just to alleviate the tedium... maybe a remap or some such? wasnt looking to spend the earth as you can imagine...

much obliged

Short answer - NO!

A replacement chip is probably available for the ECU but not likely to give more than 5hp more.

Turbo?

Change car?

that's what I feared. was just hoping that Honda had put overly restrictive intake/exhaust stuff on it, so a bit of cheap power could be had.

feared chip wouldnt help much as N/A.

Sadly the turbo and Change car options are not really viable at the mo... will just have to wait till I can upgrade the wife's car to something more interesting... I feel a what car thread coming on

For what you'd spend to release 20 more horses, it wouldn't be worth it.

Does it still have a kick down cable on the front of the gearbox? Make sure its adjusted right so it kicks down properly (if it has one that is!)
5 door civics were built in the UK so doesnt really have that big a tuner following. Is it a VTEC model? They can be adjusted as to when it cuts in but again Im not sure how viable it is on that model.
