What's it like compared to a 993 and a 996? Only cars I've driven that make a comparison. 993 felt a bit too 'solid' and early 90s for me - everything was a bit heavyweight (at least it seemed that way for a youngster like me) and a little stodgy. 996 by comparison seemed slicker and I liked the more lightweight controls.

Or you could sink £25k into a good pre '97 3.0 UK car (such as mine for example ).....
Indeed, my '91 cost £20k a few years back, I did 25,000 miles in it without a single problem and sold it for £17k 3 years later. That was 3 years ago, you can get similar cars for less money these days...

Only two less than £17k on autotrader: both '92 cars, one with 80k other with 102k
One less than £17k on PH: undesireable auto, with aftermarket alloys
I stand by my belief that 'proper' money is around £20k. Still an awesome bargain at that price though.....

Thats also Ferrari 355 terrirtory. How the crap do you spell that word? terortory, teritory?
NSX better than either.
but is it the best car you can get for 40 grand?
im not convinced...
Not trying to be picky, but that would depend on for what purpose you'd be getting the car.
If you want a sports car that will also be driven for long distances comfortably, I don't know a better one than the NSX. Certainly not the 355.
What would be the other options?

well yes, obviously it all comes down to personal requirements...
and as much as I admire the NSX, as said, thats nearly 996 Turbo money, as well as some older Ferrari's, A string of AMG merc's, Beemers etc..
I'm in no position to say which is best, though the NSX is an early 90's design, and while facelifted, I don't believe it was updated much since the beginning.
So while it may be the best sports car you can buy for 20 grand, is it really the best way of spending 40?
I honestly don't know - as i said, you can get a lot for your money at that price range.
