Would this be a difficult job to fit this engine in to a Honda CRX? If so, what kind of problems would I be likely to encounter?

Just thinking about a few things, hopefully got an opportunity for a CRX 16v to use as a trackday car coming up this year, was thinking this could be an ideal conversion for the future maybe.

Any ideas anyone?

If the CRX uses a B series motor already then its a very simple conversion, if not then its harder I guess.

The CRX used the B16 and the B18 variants, Vti, ITR etc, should all fit in quite easily. The LSD from an Integra will fit the B16 box too of course.

What engines in it already?

It's the D16A 16v non vtec engine that's in it already. What problems would there be with regards to fitting it?

I just dropped a B16 into my Civic 1.5LSI non v tec and had to do the following:

New Engine (DOh)
Driveshafts
New exhaust
New wiring loom - Complete bastard of a job
New brakes
Engine mounts are different
Throttle cable

Try the CRX owners club and get some hints on that, If youare going to plough on with the drop, get a doner car so you can strip it as you go along, makes life a lot easier.

My drop wll be posted up soon, many pics of blood, hammers, and v signs

Cheers bud, I've just registered on there so I'm in the process of trawling my way through the site, there's so many posts and so much info there to check. The loom's supposed to a be a right nighmare to do! What's it like with the B16 engine, is that the one out of a VTEC CRX or is it the 160bhp from a Civic VTi?

A lot quicker?

CRX VTi AFAIK uses the same B16 as the Civic VTi, which is 160bhp and a proper VTEC cut-over. Not sure if there's much advantage with using a VTi B18, other than the (viscous?) LSD fitted to the 5-door VTi.

Alright bud, sorry that was me that wrote the "tino" post, i was using my mates pc.

Just got up the road last night after getting the engine and JESUS!!! It is quick. So much pull to it and the vtec noise is something else. It something i would defo recommend. The loom isn't too bad actually, because Mr Honda designed it so that everything plugs in so just make sure everything is labelled for where it goes and you should have no problems. ALl i would say is take lots of pictures before and after because if you forget how things go, you can always look at the pics.

The engine i put in is the one out of the VTi, got a crash damaged one so we had a doner car. Easiest way i think.

All i have left to do on mine now is put in new interior and up grade the front brakes. Got my self the prelude brakes with rover 620 pads and discs (282mm compared to the 242mm that are on there now).

Any probs give me a shout. daniel_ r_ clarke@hotmail.co.uk is my msn.

I'd edit your e-mail address quickly - put a space in it so an automated 'trawler' can't pick it up and spam you endlessly. That way we can still read it and make the appropriate adjustment.

Thanks for the info guys. Good to hear your engine conversion went well, should make for a hell of a difference from the LSi!

How much has cost roughly for the conversion, including all parts and that?

i was quite lucky, my friend picked up an accident damaged one for v cheap so with all the help he gave me and the use of his garage, the engine, box and wiring, plus hubs and other bits and bobs it only came to £450.

I spent a wee bit more though as i got new brakes, a decat pipe, and a new 02 sensor so i would say that would be an extra £150.

Usually if you leave it to someone else, they will charge you around the £1500 mark.

Have you started yours yet or are you just planning it at the moment?

You've done really well there for that price, decent conversion too. I'm just at the planning stage at present, not too far away from getting the car, hopefully have it by the summer. It's only going to be a trackday car anyway so it should give me time to gradually build things up on the car.

I'll probably stick with the 16v engine for a while till I've saved up enough for the conversion and take it from there. Thanks for the info anyway bud, it's much appreciated.
