Looking to invest in a Type-r, it will be the old one as of march therefore I'm wandering if waiting till March will allow me so save some money. Or on the other hand have prices already dropped knowing the new one is on its way soon

Buy now or wait 3 months?

Thanks

Matt

Not necessarily an easy one to answer scratchchin
It is now the old model and quite a few people like me (who didn't fancy the new one) have already got out of them and gone elsewhere so prices have dropped already to a fair degree.
The fun part about deciding whether to wait 3 months or jump now depends entirely on what the new one will be like & whether you are looking at a recent one or something a bit older.
Reviews of the Mk II come from the journos from 1st Feb and if it's not much cop (as is more likely) then you might see a bit of a hardening of the price of prev gen run out 05.5 MY models. However, if it is any good and there is some demand then prices of the older one will fall, but not by that much.

Me - I would wait until early March and then buy an 05.5 MY (if the budget is available).

It won't ever be an investment.

If your owning it for a year as a flight of fancy then want a change, then wait till later in the year coming towards winter when demand starts to drop and the new model has had it's impact on the residuals of the old ones, meaning you can get people selling them at the lowest they'll be in a short a time frame as possible.

If you want to own one for a few years then just buy whenever. The depreciation dips and troughs even out over a few years, that is of course unless you after a last of the line old model thats only 6 months old...

Just my 2p, 50% loss of value in 3yrs is a good rule to work buy for most "normal" cars...

Good luck with the search...

if your willing to put in some graft, you could always buy a JDM import EK CTR which might have been breathed on by Spoon and Mugen for a much better price and would be a better car than the EP
