Jap does white.
Otherwise, identical, except they also get a Type R version as well.

No such thing as a Type R.

Japanese Domestic Market (JDM)'s have 250bhp
and some with part cloth interior.

Square rear numberplate apperture and bugger
all undersealing.

That's just due to the higher octane fuel and associated ECU mapping isn't it?

So, explain the link above.
You're saying they're trying it on?

It has a higher comp ratio I believe, also has the optional VGS steering, which some hate, but I love. And some had a screen in the dash for satnav.Which handily is where my Pioneer screen is.Ours is undersealed for your info.

Right here goes:

There are no differences. 250bhp? where did that come from!!?

An import may have VGS
Could have a different seat colour/dash combo or even coloured hood (yuck!)
Will not have a fog light fitted - may have an aftermarket one fitted for the UK market etc etc or a proper Honda one put in.
WILL have to pass a number of vehicle standard tests.

Try the FAQ's on www.s2ki.com - UK forums.

Oh and don't think about importing an 04+ yourself. The SVA requirements are still based on <04 models and it#s an absolute nightmare to change the car to comply.

yes
What he said!

In all honesty with all the deals around on them and the difficulty in selling on, why would you want to import an S2000?

We bought a new S2000 GT from a UK dealer for £25500 through www.drivethedeal.com - why import?

Hi

i test drove a uk 04 today for £17995, i used to own a crx del sol vti many moons ago which used to produce a howl when the vtec kicked in - very addictive and was expecting teh same if not more from this, however - the engine note hardly changed at all apart from growling slightly more

is this normal?

Depends. The 'kick' in the S2000 is less pronounced than on a B-series engine (better mapping of the cross-over point), but the note should harden and get perceptibly louder. It's probably more refined than the B-series, but you should hear and feel a clear difference.

"The S2000 (2000 to 2003 models) initially all came equipped with a 2.0 L (1997 cc) F20C inline 4 cylinder DOHC-VTEC engine producing 243 ps (179 kW, 240 hp) at 8,300 rpm and 153 ft·lbf (208 Nm) of torque at 7,500 rpm, though the Japanese models were quoted with 250 PS (184 kW, 247 hp) at 8,600 rpm due to a small difference in engine compression ratio"

Common knowledge( although perhaps not in your area!)

And wheres that quoted from? - Ah I see Wikipedia - It HAS to be right then!!

The standard UK model is actually only 237bhp! ;-) - so thats wrong too!

Its probably the same Japanese figure as that for the NSX - and the gentlemans agreement not to break 280bhp.....Not a good or accurate track record ;-)

It seems to be mentioned on s2ki a few times as well - JDM one has 11.7 compression ratio (vs 11.0 for RoW) to take advantage of 100RON fuel and maybe looser emissions regs.

Similar story for EP3/DC5...20 extra PS, I'd guess through similar changes...I know the rev limit is higher.

'Allegedly' similar story for DC2...10 extra bhp...although there the JDM version came with a slightly better exhaust manifold and the 100RON fuel, don't know if the compression was different...might have been on the JDM-only '98 revision.

I stand corrected then!! ;-) however I wouldn't of thought gains would be that much and not really worth importing for: as we don't get 100 RON fuel over here!

Seems a tad excessive for a few BHP! - Just loose some weight!
