82k onS2000 avoid?
Discussion
Hi
I'm thinking of buying one after looking for a bit more practicality compared to a S1 Lotus Elise and have a rough budget of 11k.
1st off, is it better to avoid 99 cars as they were one of the first i believe and some had a few niggles, so im thinking it is better to buy as new as poss.
I have seen a 02 GT car with hard top but has 82k on the clock which is a lot. Now i know they are bullet proof but what sort of mileage is it where things start to need to be replaced? eg: Elise's are hard to shift if you go over 55k, is there a similar thing for S2000's
cheers
Andy

85k is nothing on a honda S2000 engine with fsh, if its a good price go for it....
I'd rather have a well looked after late plate car with big miles than an older but low mileage example, far better value for money and newer = less things start failing, inspite of being bigger miles.
Have driven one S2000 with 100k plus and it had taken its miles very well, felt no different to my own 50k miles car at that time.
Integra Type R's are also very resiliant to miles, have driven 100k plus Integras felt as tight and crisp as a 60k mile example, Honda's are VERY well made.
Older S2000's do have some engine issues, there were recals for things to do with oil circulation in the block, I know of one car that threw a rod, so newer with bigger mileage is a good plan.

Hard top is worth £800 easy, does still sound like a good deal, just check for the usual!
My dad is in the trade a found a 52 plate 50k miles in grey for £12,300, was cheap because had loads of paint! Just be aware, find a good one and you sould be OK. Some on s2ki have mega miles on theirs.
