The alarm on our 52-reg CTR is going a bit berserk ! It went off at 12.40am for the last 2 nights and also went off twice again at 6.30am this morning - I don't think the neighbours are too happy !!

We haven't had any problems with it before. Does anybody know if they are particularly fragile or if there is a way to lock the car without putting the alarm on? We will be contacting the garage but don't know when they wil be able to take a look at it.

Does anybody know what the problem could be ? Could it be moisture in the system or something? There doesn't appear to be any insects flying around inside.....

I had exactly the same problem with mine a few weeks back - went off about 10 times in one night furious and pleased the neighbours greatly.
I suspect the problem will be related to the interior sensors. If you want to lock without, just lift & hold the drivers exterior handle, push the button down and keep handle lifted while closing the door. This allows the alarm to arm but without the interior monitoring.

When I first had my 03 CTR the alarm would go off regular as clockwork when the sun came up first thing in the morning - according to the Honda service chap a dodgy batch of alarm PCBs were manufactured and fitted. Since having the PCB replaced soon after, and then again under warranty at a service even though it appeared to be functioning fine, mine has been OK ever since.

Just heard back from the Garage - it needs a new circuit board as the old one has burnt out. Apparently it requires them to take a seat out to replace and will come to about £200 all in. I guess that isn't too bad as it had already cost £85 to spend an hour diagnosing the issue.....

did they check to see if that car was covered by an old fix?

I seem to remember random false alarms was a known concern on the pre 03 model year.
