Living with an NSX?
Discussion
Check out the NSX club site www.nsxcb.co.uk/ for information regarding running costs. Everyone there is very friendly.
Unless of course you want a near zero cost NSX at which point you will need to join the (not so orderly) que.

Have many PH'ers got one of these?
What are they like to use as a daily driver?
Are running costs as high as other cars of similar value?
Oh and can anyone sell me one for almost no money?
Thanks

I do.
Fantastic.
Lower, in fact lower than many 'normal' cars.
Depends what 'almost no money' means I am toying with the idea of letting mine go in the new year as we've got the Beemer and I'm getting access to a garage so may go to something a bit more compromised.
Amazing cars, one of my favorites so far. If I had to choose between an NSX and a 355 I'd take the NSX. Although I've never driven a 355 on a track, so i might change my mind. The engine is awesome, as is the ride, big boot too, and great seats - they hold you really well somehow even though they don't look like they would.
BUY ONE, if you can find one, high mileage doesn't seem to be an issue.

Well I'd value mine around 20k now, will be 70k miles showing by sale time. I'd avoid anything that's getting towards the £15k mark as you'll likely end up with one or more of the following:
Dodgy & difficult to sell colour scheme
LHD
Auto
6 figure mileage
Patchy history
Generally tatty
NSX value's do tend to be governed more by condition & mileage than age alone.... ie a red/black '91 with 50k miles in superb condition could still fetch well into £20k+ with a tatty '96 LHD yellow on 105k miles fetching £17k.....

Early signs confirm everything you've just said.
At this stage my budget is 15k so my options are to wait 3 or 4 months and save the difference or persuade myself that LHD is acceptable!

I'd hold on and keep saving.... the market is hardly awash with NSX's so it normally takes a while to find one your happy with, and that price point is highly unlikely to turn up a decent one. Saving another £3-4k to £18k-19k would be well worth the wait; you'll recoup come resale anyway as a decent £20kish NSX is going to depreciate very little......
even if you save the difference there is no guarentee a manual will come up anyway - at least you'll be positioned to buy one at more price ranges. Took months for me to see suitable ones. I've seen some red early manual advertised as low as 12!!! didn't see the car though, it was sold. wasn't particulary high mileage.
oh you might find a targa - I didn't want one

Yes, I have one. Have had it 4 years & 80,000 miles. No probs at all. cheap cheap servicing (about the same as my old S2000). You must get a manual, but don't be scared of high mileages - they laugh at them. Honda reckon the engine is good for 250,000. The rest of the car so well built you could knock 100k of the clock and most people couldn't tell. Look out for: Body damage - at £2k per panel just for the panel you don't want to be fixing any dings, Clutches - at around £1,500 to fit make sure it's reasonably fresh. They only last around 30k, so be warned. I've just changed to an american RPS unit that's a lot more durable and much cheaper to replace at the cost of heavier pedal....
Good luck

I still want this car even if its just for 6 months or so, but what about an imported monster ?
I'd like one with a bit more than the standard BHP and perhaps upgraded brakes/suspension.
Such a lovely car. (mk1)

Bit brave. Take a rare car, and choose a rare version with some unusual mods = potential maintainance nightmare? Besides, there's eomthing intrinsically 'wrong' about non factory moded NSX', think to fast to furious!! Why not try a standard one first - they are hard enough to find as it is!
Take one for a test drive. Better still take out a couple of them. First one I test drove was an imported automatic - very disappointing drive and it looked like it had been repaired after a crash (and not a great job either).
2nd was a tiptronic targa. that was a completly different drive. car was in good shape and really impressed me. only problem is that I really want a manual - otherwise I would have bought it.
