Hi,

Trying to track down a minor but very irritating problem with my Civic vtec. It doesn't happen all the time, seems to depend on whether it's warm or cool weather but it can hesitate when starting off from junctions etc and when in gear if you put your foot down it's dead and takes a while to pick up. Ticks over well and when in neutral you can rev it gradually right up the rev range without any probs at all.

When I had it serviced they put in some fuel injector cleaner which seems to have improved it slightly and I now only use Shell/Esso etc. But continued use of the injector cleaner isn't improving the situation (9 months since the last service).

Any ideas?

Cheers

Sounds a bit obvious but have you checked the air filter to see if its clogged? Oil change? Fuel filter? Poor fuel grade? Too high a gear?

Only time I have ever had this a change of spark plugs solved the problem.

Cheers, it has been serviced and those items should have been changed, I know the plugs were last time as I can they are new. But I'll check the filter just in case, thanks.

Cheers-I'll check the plug type as these were changed at the last service but it was a non-Honda garage so maybe they've fitted inferior plugs.

Thanks.

that was the problem with mine, it had DOHC leads instead of SOHC ones!

Went to halfords and asked for d-series civic leads and job done!

sounds like an ignition problem, plugs or leads are my bet, does it have a distributor? If so arm and cap?
