...near leeds.

Just bought a '93 Prelude Vtec today, absolutly delighted with it, never had a vtec before, its savage!! Car has 81k on the clock and has'nt had a cambelt change, so id like to guarantee the vtec fun for while! So the bottom line is, i need someone who knows what their doing to throw a new belt on her asap!! Heard about dp motorsport in warrington, are these to be recommended? Id ideally like somewhere closer though.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks

Honda specialists are unfortunately thin on the ground...I think mainly because the dealer network is in the main better than average.

Post this up on the Hondarevolutions forum, and possibly also the Integra, Civic, and S2k forums...should be someone near you who knows a decent place. Failing that, just go with a local garage you trust - if it's just a cam-belt change and not anything diagnostic, and if it's a UK car, then a good garage should be able to do the job well.

Oh...if you're so inclined, or a little less-than-sure about a mainstream garage, google for the workshop manual as well...then can print out the relevant pages to be sure they're using the right torque figures etc.

You need System R at Warrington also known as TDI North. everybody on the Integra DC5 and Civic type R forums use them up north. The southerners use the bottom two.

Two posts and they're both recommending the same place, who just happens to be right near you!

I used my local Honda dealer for the cambelt change in my integra type r they were exactly the same as the local mechanic for prices. Thier labour rate was higher but only
charged a few hours to do it.

I shopped around to get the RTA bushes done on mine last month - had a choice between dodgy back-street-garage places wanting ~£100 + parts, a well-known local motorsport specialist (Toyota/Nissan not Honda, but they were doing really well to start with on the phone) wanting to charge £50+VAT/hr for "5 to 6 hours", or the main dealer agreeing to charge £300 inc. VAT. "as it's booked as a 3 hour job" (which I'm guessing is their average).

I was never going to give it to the back-street place. But curiously enough the main dealer got the job as while RTA bushes CAN cause problems, being told up-front you're going to be charged for potential problems (I knew already what the book time was for the job) isn't a good way to win business!

Lucky for you mate, I have Honda garage located in leeds. Snap! My names Jones Khan, and to be honest mate I haven't had any other car apart from a Honda, and i've been specialising in Hondas since my youth. So yes, I clearly know what I'm doing. In addition, we also have a part shop right next door! Literrally retailing all the parts you'd need for a Honda. What do you think? I am more than happy to send you a brochure down? Or you can pop down on monday morning. Looking forward to your reply fellow, cheers. Pleasure to meet your aquintance.

In case anyone needs any more warning, I just had a rather nasty e-mail from Car Enthusiast 1.

Seems he doesn't like people picking up on his lies...

Lucky for him that he sent the email to just you and didn't post it on one of the biggest motoring web forums or he might have given himself some bad press... Oh....wait.

I tell you what, I'll just check on all the main Honda specialist forums to see if it's a one off.

I may be sometime.

hehe

The wife's Shuttle and Accord cam belts were done by our local main dealer.

The difference in price between Main dealer and specialist was far less than I expected and to have the extra peace of mind was worth it IMHO
