2014 Honda CR-V Nav update

My brother in law has just bought a 2014 Honda CR-V exclusive

The mapping in the nav is very old (never been updated I fear) and he asked if it can be updated.

First issue is trying to find which head unit it is - I think it is a HDD version, Honda and its website is really no help.

So does anyone recommend where to buy the update and give us some advice

This car has foc updates until the end of this year and is Garmin based. If this doesn't apply to you then maube the website above can still help...

As an alternative, I bought one of these retrofit carplay head units for my 2016 CR-V last year. It's rather good.
The fascia plate makes it fit really well and the carplay/andoid auto functionality lets you use whatever navigation app you prefer.
