Anyone running an HR-V?

Hi all,
We're toying with the idea of replacing our 17 year old BMW 3 series with a newer car, and the wife fancies something a bit more SUV like (without being an actual SUV).
I noticed that the HR-V seems to come out fairly well in tests.
Just wondered if anyone on here has one? For our rough budget, we'd be looking at an early one (2016 probably) - and I fancy EX trim (for the leather seats and sunroof). My wife (who will be the main driver) does't like automatics, so we'd be looking at the six speed manual. Not that bothered whether its the diesel of petrol - reviews suggest the diesel has more grunt, but is less refined.
Main concerns are that its big/comfortable enough for a family of three (we're all fairly tall), and that it doesn't have any massive reliability worries or known problems. We've had our BMW since 2010, so we tend to hang on to cars for a while
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Mrs T has been running one of these for a few years now. It is the 1.5 ivtec model. Being honest it is a fairly average engine, very gruff and doesn't like revving much. However it is very economical, have seen 50mpg on a long (70mph) run.
We took it to Italy last year and it was perfect, very refined and extremely spacious (although it struggled on some of the big hills)
Build quality is ok ish, expect some rattles and clunks. Ours has done nearly 50K miles now and we have had no issues with it.
I've no experience of the diesel I'm afraid..

Wife has had a 2016 iDTEC S for nearly 2 years, no issues whatsoever. 16" wheels make for a floaty ride, engine can be a little noisy but once moving its fine. I liked driving hers so much I went out, selling my A2 and E91 and bought one myself, a 2015 EX diesel with possibly every accessory available ticked!
Great fuel economy - I do 15 miles each way to work - regularly see 65+ mpg and warms up about 1/4 of the way there. Projected range around 600 miles on a tank (last one cost £66) If I have a gripe, its maybe the seats, after 4 hrs I find them a little uncomfortable but I guess I ought to have stopped by then anyway...

I’m thinking about getting one of these for the Mrs.
Prob 2018-20 depending on price etc.
A little more info in the mpg of petrol vs diesel would be good?
Anyone have any problems with the reliability of the roof on the EX? I haven’t heard that they are bad, just interested in peoples thoughts.

The D-Tec is the one to have, good cars and generally ultra reliable, however..underside corrosion can be severe, depending
where in the country you are, early Scottish ones starting to look very crusty underneath now, 7 years of salty roads is taking its toll,
if looking to keep one long term they need good undersealing.

OP here. We decided to give it another year in the end, and the BMW has served us well during 2023, just an oil change, tyres, and an MOT pass to pay for.
But, now at 18 years old, we're still thinking of changing it, and the HR-V is still top of the list for us. The added benefit of the Honda diesel is that it's ok in low emission zones, yet because everyone seems to think diesel engines are bad now, they seem cheaper than the equivalent petrol in the used market.
We need to go and drive one, but moving on a year it seems my budget will now see me in a low mileage 2017 or moderate mileage 2018 model.
Does anyone know when (or if) the headunit was upgraded to support Android Auto? Or, do we need to be looking a lot newer to get that?
