Honda accord steering
Discussion
Hi,
Can anyone advise is the steering light to do on the Honda accord 2005 onwards? I mean is it a light weight one to steer or is it heavy? I'd like a car that has very easy steering as I have arm trouble sometimes. Been driving a bmw 320 ci coupe and that's perfect for me but no worries looking for another car. Thanks in advance.

I used to have a 2005 2.0 SE.
The SE model I had used an electric power steering system and was light to use.
I believe some models have traditional hydraulic power steering though so may be different weight.
Thank you for this, was this a petrol one and do you know if diesel ones have to be driven a long drive once a week to keep the dpf clear? My drive to work is only 11.5 miles which is 17 minutes. My lifestyle only has 30+ minute drives about a 5 times a year. The SE model I had used an electric power steering system and was light to use.

Mine was a petrol manual, great car - the only issue is the clutches are expensive to replace at £750+ from a dealer. The autos are good, a bit slower and a few mpg less but tend to last up to 120k miles without issue.
You also have to watch out for the catalytic converter being stolen on the petrols now.
I'm not sure about the diesels - some of the earlier ones didn't have a dpf, but they can use clutches up quite quickly as there is a lot of torque and replacements have to be fitted exactly to ensure they last.

If it's a CDTi then no DPF, if it's a DTEC then it's got a DPF. If determined to get a diesel I would try to avoid DPF, but for your mileage I would go petrol without question. I would also look at the 2.4 as it's almost as economical as the 2.0 but has a fair bit more power and it is insanely reliable. Manual lifters though so they may need to be adjusted for some fine tuning if a little noisy. Takes a little over an hour. Gassing Station | Honda | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
