Jazz to Civic - upgrade?
Discussion
We have a Jazz and it's perfect for our needs because we don't want to go fast or look cool. But with baby #2 on the way it's going to be too small for two car seats in the back and a buggy and any bags in the boot.
We'd like to stick with Honda so what are the options? Is a Civic functionally just a bigger Jazz? Father in law has a Civic but it looks huge in comparison, is it possible he bought an estate version or is there only one 'shape' of Civic?

Don't know, the Jazz was £5k and seven years old but only 18k miles when we bought it in 2016, but Civics around £5-6k seem to be either three-door or over ten years old so we might need to up the budget or look at a different car. I guess it makes sense that we'd have to pay more for a larger car in the same condition. We don't really care about performance so paying for a 1.8/2.0 engine probably isn't best use of our money.
I have a 2016 1.4 civic. Brilliant reliable car. Has the same magic seat set up in the rear as the jazz.
It’s obviously a bigger car , to me it feels more Passat like than golf if comparing with other brands.
Quite low to the ground and the bumpers stick out a fair bit imo ( our 10 month old civic was scraped on them 3 times in first year of ownership!)
Be aware the newest shape civic no longer has the magic seats due to a different rear axle ?

How talk are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm 6ft5 and there is basically no comfort room in the 09 Jazz. The previous one was better but I think because the seats sat lower to the floor of the car.
I’m 6ft 3” and find there is plenty headroom. Rear visibility isnt the best with the split rear window , think they all? have either sensors or camera.

One of our daughters has a Jazz and two little kids. For a while she was carrying a hefty double pram thing in it. They've (with her husband) been on UK family holidays in it, although she removed the spare wheel for extra packing space! With two child seats there's not really enough room to put my seat all the way back, which I need, and a buggy and a suitcase means the boot is pretty much full already, just stacking room left. If I could stretch it by 2ft lengthwise it would be the perfect car but I don't think it's going to work for four of us.
Unless we stick with it and just hire a car for luggage trips, that would probably work out cheaper!

What about a Thule roof box and bars ?Unless we stick with it and just hire a car for luggage trips, that would probably work out cheaper!
That’s what we done when we looked at moving up to a Honda HRV. Saved spending £8000 plus the civic against £400 😂

Don’t buy a 3 door with kids.
Also I thought a civic and jazz are similar sizes inside. Can’t see a civic being bigger.
You should inform Honda as they could just stop making Civics and save a lot of effort and cash! A Civic is certainly larger inside. Also I thought a civic and jazz are similar sizes inside. Can’t see a civic being bigger.
Since 2012 with the mk 9 there have been no 3 door Civics.
