Hi all, I am picking up a 2005 Civic Type-S (7th Gen/EP3 shape) tomorrow which has the Honda factory fitted Nav. The Nav doesn't work and I'd like to replace it with the standard Honda stereo if possible. Does anyone know if this is likely to be plug and play? The aperture in the dash looks the same size/shape so I/m more concerned with the wiring side of things.

I would have thought (probably wrongly) that the car's wiring loom is the same for cars with and without Nav, and that I will be able to unplug the Nav (and maybe any connectors relating to the Nav) and then plug the stereo in.

I've had a look for forums/facebook groups for the car, but can't seem to find any that are active. If you know of any that may be of use, let me know!

Hey mate, I recently bought a bluetooth CD changer adapter for the standard stereo. The manufacturer specifically stated it's not compatible with with the Nav version, so that would suggest it's a different loom.

FYI the stereo is a bit of pig to get out biggrin

I've got a Haynes manual which I'll take a look through at lunch. It's got wiring diagrams for the car so it might give us some more info.

Its not too bad if you have a Philips, an 8mm on a long thin extension, and some trim removers. There's a couple of videos on YT.

That would be great, thanks thumbup
If it’s not possible then I can live with it as is.

Thanks, I had a quick look and there are a few videos. If the wiring means that it is possible then i’ll investigate further and get a long extension.

Fwiw I fitted a Honda-ISO connector from eBay for about 3 quid that meant I could fit a regular stereo. (The very cheapest Chinesium, I wouldn't recommend the stereo). The lead works perfectly.

Interesting, did your car have the factory fitted Nav? If so, that would suggest the car wiring is the same and that it should be relatively straight forward for me smile

No, only a CD-radio. Suspect theres probably a couple of redundant wires in there plus a GPS plug...

Looks to me like it's all the same. The area of the diagram on the right (grey oblong) are the pins for the stereo. Doesn't look like it mentions anything extra for Nav. I guess it just gets powered from constant live, does it's thing and sends audio through the same connectors as the normal HU.

This is what i was hoping, thanks. When I get some spare time I’ll give it a go.
