FN2 Type R - interior / road noise

Evening all,
Slightly odd question given car in question.
Had intermittent tinnitus for several years (nothing major and only in one ear).
Looking at buying a FN2 for weekend fun and the odd motorway journey.
Can anyone give me their experience on how loud the interior is on the motorway? Is there a loud noise from the tyres or any drone?

Nice easy one for the motorway, keep it as close to 70mph as you can with cruise control on and its actually a fairly comfortable place to be until you hit a bump or approach 2 hours.
at 80 the engine is doing 4000rpm and and making a reasonable noise, although I removed the sound deadening from under the bonnet so it should be a little quieter on a car with it left in place. I just turn the radio up.

t box I've had two. Louder/more road noise than my current mk3 focus and I had my back seat passengers complain on occasion. Personally I just turned up the aftermarket audio system I'd installed to drown it out.
Still better than my MR2 roadster I had before the FN2, now that WAS loud lol (but it had no roof)

Didn't think mine was particularly loud as regards road noise, was very pleasant to drive about in fact. Bumps and poor road surfaces on the other hand, will shake your bones.
By far the biggest assault on the ears in the FN2, is that awful stereo it has as standard, what a piece of junk. Get rid if you're intending to listen to music, lots of kits available.

I had a EP3 Type R (before mild intermittent tinnitus) and can't recall that being a terribly loud car. Was 14 years ago now though, so can't really remember road noise that well.
I'd plan to change the headunit as I have suffered Honda systems in the past. I'll also look at which tyres are best for performance and refinement. Soft tyres which grip well and wear quickly wouldn't be an issue with the few thousand miles I'd drive per year.

Stick to the 18's and you should be fine, a good mate has a 2001 EP3 and although its been a while since I have been in it it felt similar to my FN2 in terms of build quality, cabin noise etc with the FN2 possibly being ever so slightly quieter. Update to thread. I bought a solid example which needs some bits doing (as any 10+ year old car needs).
The interior noise is absolutely fine, more refined than I thought it would be. Nice and relaxing to drive off cam, but obviously great fun when opening it up.
