2014 Gen 4 2.2 CR-V diesel filter change
Discussion
I've tried searching for info' on this but I can't find a "how to" on this particular year/model/engine. Has anyone here changed this filter on a gen 4 2.2?
If so, can you tell me please:
is it accessible from the under the bonnet?
I think it's located under the air filter casing. Is it a simple matter of removing the air filter casing, then removing the fuel filter holder and taking it to a bench to swap out the filter element?
I'm guessing this is the tool I need to remove the top of the filter holder:

Thanks for any replies

I'll answer my own question. There doesn't seem to be easily found information on this subject relative to the CR-V Gen 4 (2012 on) but there's a good "how to video" for a 2011 Gen 3 and, looking at my car, the layout seems to be the same on the Gen 4 (the air filter box is the same and I can just see the "cast iron filter protector" behind and underneath it. The answers appear to be:
can be changed working from the top of the car under the bonnet (no need for underside access);
remove air filter box and it's mounting bracket to access the diesel filter;
remove the "cast iron filter protector" to access the top of the filter and a "filter removal tool" (Laser part number 6612 / 88mm with 15 flats) to remove the filter.
Heres the video showing "how to":

Having changed this now I can confirm that it's actually quite an easy job, using the correct removal tool (I found it much easier than changing the fuel filter on an Accord or Civic). One thing puzzled me before I did the job as I couldn't find the diesel "primer bulb" on the 2.2 CR-V i-Dtec. There doesn't appear to be one and it started just fine without. If you are thinking about doing this job yourself I would recommend you do so.
