s2000 - leaving the battery off?
Discussion
Our S2000 has been sat for a month or so, and wasn't getting much use before that so the battery is now too flat to start the engine.
Easiest thing will be if I take the battery off and put it on the charger in the house. However, I don't know how much the car will like that. I've had cars before that get upset when the battery is removed for a certain period or gets to a certain state of charge and start sounding the alarm as an anti-theft measure.
Does anyone know if S2000s start sounding the alarm if the battery is left off? It's a 2006, if that makes any difference.
TIA

It’s not an S2000 but I had the battery removed from my Accord Type-S for nearly 12 months while trying to source another K24 engine.
I’d suggest disarm the alarm, remove the battery and then lock the doors with the key.
If the voltage in the battery is low when reconnected with the alarm active, it can sound until the battery is charged properly.

Thanks all.
Update on what happened: nothing.
I removed the battery and locked the car with the key, no alarm shenanigans occurred. I unlocked driver's door with the key, popped the bonnet and refitted the (now-charged) battery and not so much as a chirrup from the alarm. Key in ignition, started engine, all good.
So, the S2000 is a well-behaved car when it comes to battery swaps. Good to know!

I didn’t reply to your question because any issues would be down to the alarm/immobiliser and my very early car has a very simple system. Disconnecting/reconnecting the battery is no problem. Later cars got different systems (the notoriously troublesome Hamilton and Palmer system) and later cars again (like yours) I believe got something else.
Anyway thanks for confirming. It’s good to know that the elegant simplicity of the S2000 continued throughout its years in more ways than one. I used to have a Porsche 911 (996) and doing anything wrong with the battery on that could lead to a world of pain!

I know this has been answered, but just wanted to add that I remove the battery from mine for months at a time during winter with no ill effects. I think I went from October to Feb this year. I just keep the battery indoors and top it up on a charger every so often. My garage has no power so I have no option!
