Hi all

Just had my civic serviced including an air con regas.

I was driving along and the car started to lurch and then there was a loud repetitive noise that at first I thought was the ABS. It was that kind of hammering noise.

It happened a few times so pulled over with engine running to inspect front drivers wheel to see if there was anything immediately obvious. I then Saw a squirt of gas.

The engine was running lumpily but when I turned the AC off it ran fine.

I drove a fee miles with no further symptoms. A mechanic pal of mine reckons the AC has been overfilled. I called the garage and they initially feel the air con has a leak.

Any further thoughts people? Do we think it's screwed?

If you have your air conditioning re gassed, that means it had a leak and lost the original gas. So, the question is, was the leak that the gas escaped from repaired? It's beyond the realms of possibilities that the compressor has failed.

my mother had a breadvan civic (not sure what year, 04 or 05 perhaps?) that suddenly developed a similar loud banging noise when i drove it once , suddenly started when we were stuck in traffic on a hot day, it sounded terrible and i thought i had properly broken it, but it was the aircon compressor that had suddenly failed , new one was fitted and it was fine again.

Hi all.

I took it to the garage who sorted it and it's been fine up until Tuesday when it did it again.

Will take it back to garage at some point. Its a bit odd.

They did say the battery is old and only operating at 57% so I wonder if this has an impact?
