I've looked into this; I believe it's a simple drain and refill - the filter is deep inside the transmission and is not accessible, but I have read in some places that there is an inline filter somewhere on the external fluid lines that can be changed. Use the dipstick to ensure the level is correct.

Use Honda ATF only - you can get it from Cox Honda.

Thanks I was just hoping there were not two plugs on the filler side of the g/box as I did not want to undo a plug that would undo internal workings, I have heard of the internal filter on You Tube but that was US spec vehicles (2000cc) I have purchased a long neck filler funnel that reaches the dip stick opening, so should be ok on that score. Yes I have purchased the Honda gearbox oil 3 ltrs = £48.
But hear is the downer the car is to low to go on my ramps, plus the auto box specialists in Preston, Leyland don't want to know so now its back to the Honda dealer who want £40 to change the oil. Thanks for the advise

Thats very suprising an auto specialist wouldnt want to service one of the simpler transmissions! As for the internal filter, Honda use the same engines and transmissions the world over so it’ll still have an internal filter.

£40 isnt too bad, and you’ll have a better Workmanship garuntee with Honda anyway.

Ot may have an in-line filter somewhere, sort of like a fuel filter type thing, but the main filter is inside the transmission itself and cannot be accessed without splitting the housing and opening it up.

It's not like a ZF auto, for example, whre the filter is part of the sump pan that gets removed during an oil service.
