Following on from my Milano Red DC5 Turbo thread, I’ve now picked up a FD2. I was originally planning to import one via Torque GT but I managed to find one relatively close to me, in Woolwich Arsenal, London.

It was an advert on Gumtree, the pics didn’t look great and the advert description was terrible. Plus I’m always a little suspicious of gumtree adverts. It wasn’t advertised on AT or PH.

The advert did mention that it was imported by Torque GT last year and this was confirmed by them after I enquired. To their credit, and even after I was looking to to import one through them the car came highly recommended. They told me the advertised price was right and if they could they’d buy it back and sell it for a lot more and was confident it would sell straight away.
So I decided to go and have a look. I wasn’t holding out much hope, based on the pics and advert so didn’t even sort the insurance out.

So I turned up with my mechanic mate (who works for Honda, and owned a few himself) on Tuesday this week.
We were both blown away by the condition of it. I I felt bad trying to haggle it down, it was up for £15k but managed to get £300 off. The car looks brand new inside.

The spec:

Champ White with 68k miles
Black / Red interior
J’s Racing front splitter
Feel’s rear diffuser
Upgraded exhaust manifold
Koni rear shocks
Front and rear camera
Greddy Intelligent Touch screen (think I’ll remove this and sell it on)

I haven’t had the chance to look underneath but I’m assured It’s been fully undersealed by Torque, as well as the usual UK mods (mph conversion ets...)

I’m really impressed with it so far, it’s a lot bigger than I was expecting though, and the A-pillars will take some getting used to.

Really happy so far. I’ll take some pics this weekend to show her off. Hopefully this won’t cause me as many issues as my DC5 that it’s replaced...

The “bad” stuff
It needs an alignment
New wipers
Rear pads
In the radio / sat nav is in Japanese so need to get this replaced
Not sure on the J’s splitter. Might change this for a Mugen one.

I happen to have both the front wipers here that were never fitted - genuine Honda. Sold the Mrs FD2 a month or so ago.

Love FD2s, and it sounds like you got a good deal on it judging by the prices lately.

I'm waiting on a DC5 to arrive at the moment, out of curiosity what issues did you have with yours?

Looking forward to pictures of the FD2!

Congrats on the new purchase. If you're on Facebook, there's a few of us on FD2 UK. There's also a forum (which Torque GT now own) if you prefer (like I do) but it's quiet.

They can pretty hard on rear brake pads so an upgrade maybe worth considering (I'm considering Dixcel Z type from Torque GT but everyone has their own preference). I previously owned a dc5 too but found the rear pads lasted forever on that.

I look forward to seeing photos too smile

My DC5 issues were related to it being highly modified.
The main problems were an erratic idle. The car would rev and stay at 2.5k revs every time I would come to a stop. After checking the idle control control, throttle body, speed sensor etc... it was determined that it was an ECU issue. It had been remapped previously but the guy wouldn’t unlock it for me so I needed to get it remapped again.
Another problem was with starting / not starting. Went through a couple of batteries, got an auto electrician out and it turned out to be a starter issue.

It was a lovely looking car but I just lost faith in it at the end and was worried something else would go wrong and it would leave me stranded again.

It’s a bit of a gloomy day so not the best of photos...

It has a Greddy Intelligent Touch screen which I’m not keen on. I’m going to remove it and sell it on.

I’m also changing the radio system, as it’s all in Japanese, for a double din Apple CarPlay one.

Had the car up on the ramp today, my first look underneath.

As you can see it’s very clean!

Yeah I’m really enjoying it. I feels like a brand new car. No rattles.

Next week I’m getting the car fully serviced, all fluids changed and also getting a double din radio with Apple CarPlay and new centrally positioned rear camera.
