Ok, I’ve not posted in a while but with all this downpours we’ve been having. I’m starting to think the 5 year old PS3 tyres on the rears need to be replaced. Think on the recent MOT they were reading depths of 3.4.3mil.

What are PS4’s like on a S2000. Too hard?
Can you recommend a premium tyre?

I run Goodyear Eagle F1's XL load on my 06 S2K but with a couple of extra PSI over the standard 32 psi spec.

Front Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 215/45 R17
Rear Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 245/40 R17

I've run the GSD2 variant then replaced rears with GSD3 and very recently GSD5 (I dont feel qualified to fully comment on these yet). I dont track the car, and these days she's a weekend cruiser with the odd long run. The tyres have never given me cause for concern in whatever weather we've been in - including some really bad ones of note, however she does get stored away over winter.

Thanks for your response. I'm going to move away from Michelin as I feel the tyre is too hard a compound especially as the rear needs as much grip as possible. At the moment Costco has a deal on with Michelin but will hold off and wait for Goodyear. I held the Goodyear tyres and the rubber did feel softer than the Michelin which are pretty hard. Costco say you get 25% more life from Michelins. That does not interest me. I want as much grip as possible..

...Goodyear are now on asymmetric 5, which is considered to be a significant improvement on the 3

I don't know if either is more suited to the S2000, but DYOR as they say.

Here's another great article from Jon

Michelin PS4s tend to score consistently very well for all aspects of grip; I imagine they'd be perfectly good - TBH The only way you'll get much more in the way of dry traction is semi slicks, which is a whole new department.

I believe you can only get the PS4 variant (not S version) for the S2000 17" wheel. I have PS4S on my RS5, amazing tyres, however purchased F1 Eagle Assum 5 for my S2000, very happy, went for the reinforced versions..
