Hi All,

I'm having trouble finding information on something. On Auto Trader UK, whenever I search for S2000, under model variant, I tend to find: GT, Roadster and i-VTEC options.

I've read online that GT comes with a hardtop and the roadster doesn't. But I can't seem to find information on i-VTEC model variant. I've also read multiple times that the S2000 F20 doesn't come with intelligent VTEC like the K20 does. But I read it these comments on a US forum and they were also talking about the F22.

Could someone shed some light on i-VTEC variant please? Also what else is different with this model variant.

Thanks.

I've owned 2 S2000 from new (2000 Roadster & 2006 GT) and have never heard about any of them ever being equipped with iVTEC.

The F22 was a 2.2 variant produced for the US market for emissions reasons.

Yes, GT model refers to a hardtop being included.

The F22 was available to US and Japan only. Its known as the AP2. In the UK we never got AP2 only AP1. The F22 engine has a bigger displacement and introduced a bit more mid range torque therefore reducing the 9k rev limit down to over 8k rpm.

Earlier cars are known as AP1 pre-facelift (i.e. lights and frontbumper) and AP1 facelift (late 04 onwards) - which owners here tend to refer/think is an AP2; but they all remain with the F20 engine throughout the production history. i-vtec is not on AP1 variants.

You can get an AP2 here in RHD IF it has been imported from Japan but there is not many around as they are epxensive to obtain and bring over due to high prices in Japan. Models such as Type S etc exist over there and have exterior styling differences such as rear spoilers etc.

A good resource is the s2ki forums if you want to get more information on car variances; but the above responses should give you the info you need

Hope you join the club soon, they are a cracker wee car if you know how to drive and get the best from them

Yes, I understand the differences between the AP1 AND THE AP2 and the regions they were introduced in. I think we have missed a point here. Why is AutoTrader UK showing i-VTEC option in its model variant when F20 and the F22 are only VTEC engines and not the i-VTEC.

Is an i-VTEC F series engine ever produced? or are AutoTrader listers cocking up cluelessly once again?

Better than Churchill though, I just bought insurance and the number plate of my S2K came up as a Honda Prelude (?!).

Import version maybe? DC5 shows up as an EP3 FYI.

Nope, UK car. It only seems to be Churchill that has the issue. Documents are correct, they were cheaper than other quotes so I rang up to check it was correct, £217 for a years fully comp with protected no claims seems pretty good to me.
