I've had countless diesels remapped, mainly BMW and Ford and VW, by companies like DMS, E Maps and a couple of other places.
Honda-wise, anyone know a good remapping firm who can extract a useful gain from the 148 bhp 2012 Civic MK 9 we just bought as an extra car? It's an excellent buy and great value used but i feel sure the 2.2 diesel lump could and should be giving more than it currently is. Thanks.

Celtic tuning have a good name with the Honda 2.2 as far as I can remember, they're quoting 210bhp and 314 torque which would be quite rapid I'm sure.

Budget for an upgraded clutch however!

Yes, have the cash for a new dual mass flywheel on standby and you'll be laughing.

Check out the facebook MK8 civic club. I know yours is a MK9 but the MK8 had the same 2.2 and everyone on there seems to have remapped their 2.2 so worth asking for first hand experiences. As mentioned, budget for an uprated clutch!

Had mine done by Premier Tuning (2010, 2.2 Facelift with original 325 clutch) when it was on 86k miles. Car is now on 132k and unless I boot it under 2k there's no slippage. Car went from 140 BHP to 'around 180BHP' as it's sadly a generic map.

I also got my 2010 Civic remapped with a performance 185bhp map done last year. As the car had 125 miles on it the clutch was beginning to slip. So i replaced with the latest 325 clutch and flywheel the day before the remap.

Now the car is way better to drive and revs to 4k with no problem. My brother has a VRS 170 bhp and it is a bit quicker than his car now.

The car now has nearly 140 miles on it and has never had any clutch slipping problems which was my main concern.

I would say definitely go for it as it makes the car fast and fun to drive.

I did try a RaceChip first and this made no difference to my car so i sent it back.

Any professional company will give you a good quality remap without having to go on a dyno.

RStuning did mine way back in the day, and a few others.

Things may have changed as this was back in 2010, but the celtic remaps at the time weren't giving anything like the power they claimed (although only a couple of people on civinfo actually had them RR'd. Also worth getting a before RR, as it was found most were giving over the specified BHP / torque before hand.

The reality is that most maps will see a 40-50bhp increase over what the car is producing now.
