CR-V Keyless Fob
Discussion
Bought the missus a 2012 CR-V Ex from a reputable independent trader.
The car came with only one fob (car starts from a button). This fob is marked 1. There is no backup #2 fob. The car was a trade-in at a Honda dealer.
Honda want 500-quid for a new quid and another 50 to code it to the car.
Can another key - from another car - be 're-coded' to the car?
£550.00 is excessive for a second key (which may never be used) and whilst I acknowledge it may well be cheaper than losing the main fob, but would like to explore a cheaper option if there is one?

Pretty sure a reputable auto locksmith can create a new key, even for the latest keyless entry cars. Try a Google search in your local area? The car came with only one fob (car starts from a button). This fob is marked 1. There is no backup #2 fob. The car was a trade-in at a Honda dealer.

No specific mention of Honda, but the photos on their home page suggest they cover a wide range of cars, and can do modern keyless fobs as well as traditional keys.

Spoke to them (and others) and as helpful as they were, they too were snookered. https://www.themasterlocksmith.com/
