Another USDM Honda?
Discussion
I sold my Civic Coupe as I was away for a while and needed the money. I miss it very much and the driving experience was just perfect for me. So I've been looking at USDM Accord Coupés instead like this one :

I'm willing to bide my time for an even better example but I'm just looking for any reason not to or maybe go for a prelude instead. I loved my Civic so surely the next model up is just going to feel even better. It's a cheap way to get into a v6 with VTEC no less and auto box is my preferred choice anyways. I get that it's going to be a little more complicated and therefore maybe not as trouble free as my Civic was. Would I be mad to go for one over a similar price prelude?

Well after reading that thread and finding a perfect example for sale in my dream colour with all the right stuff done to it, I thought that I could definitely go ahead (if I could get that asking price down) https://www.gumtree.com/p/honda/honda-accord-coupe...That is until I checked the insurance quotes, £1900 was the lowest I could get it down to. I get that this thing must be a nightmare from an insurance company perspective but that's double what I could realistically have managed.
Shame because for me that would probably be the perfect car. I just couldn't live with having a 2.0 model, not that it even reduces the premium much.
There had to be a catch
So would this qualify as a "classic car" that you could get cheaper insurance for? I literally would just want to drive it the odd weekend 1k a year tops. If that really has the importer/dealer body kit then that thing really is rare. I love the gold lettering against the purple metallic. V6 VTEC, Fully independent suspension and relatively light would add up to some serious fun. I can't stop listening to the baleful moan it makes when on the VTEC. I'm aware the styling divides opinion but I think it's sexy a/f. I do think the asking price is too high, who wants those running costs these days and that gearbox is a timebomb that a handful of people could work on if it goes. Apparently there really are not many left

Some insurers won't classify it as a classic but it is worth having the conversation over the phone rather than on the internet.
Your low miles a year will help and if your current car insurer is any good they can sometimes " mirror" your no claims bonus... assuming you have some!!! So it is worth talking to your current insurer too.
Those companies i mentioned respond better to a telephone call than an internet enquiry which doesn't always find a Honda V6 Coupe anyway.
