Accord Type R with a leaky...something.
Discussion
Hi all,
Slightly embarrassing but I have oil leaking from my Accord Type-R and I'm not entirely sure where from!
I've taken some snaps. The sump plug is dry so it's either LSD or gearbox. I've not noticed any unusual noises from the car but have noticed the handling isn't quite as sharp as it was which leads me to the LSD...
Sorry not the best pictures. I haven't jacked it up just clambered under the car. ..
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Sorry what do you mean by a leaking LSD? A leak around the gearbox is going to be a seal of some sort, so it could vary from an easy fix such as a driveshaft seal, to a more serious repair as an input shaft seal or even crank seal on the engine side, which naturally means splitting the engine and gearbox.
Where are you based? As an owner of an Accord Type R, I could not recommend Andy and Ben at VTEC Direct more than enough.

Check the gearbox drain bolt, and filer bolt, are tight. It's possible that they might need a new crush washer.
Clean up the area as best as you can, make it really nice and clean as best you can. Dust on talcum powder and run the engine, see if any fluid dribbles start to appear. The talc will help you trace it.
It might be worth checking the transmission fluid level - just undo the filler bolt poke your little finger in; if you cant get any amount of oil on, top up with Honda MTF fluid until it dribbles out.
Is the diff not integrated within the gearbox housing?
Another thought - could it be driveshaft seals leaking?
