Hi All,

I posted over on technical forum yesterday about what appears to be significant wear to my discs.

I bought the CTR in May from someone who had previously used the car perhaps in more "anger" than myself. He had fitted yellow stuff pads to Brembo Cross Drilled and Grooved discs.

I was recently detailing the car and noted that the disc grooves either have worn down to the point they are flat against the disc or they've filled with dust from the pad - the pads give masses of dust - my wheels are covered in a day of driving.

My driving style is less in anger. I am not doing any track work. Mainly day driving in traffic with occasional hard braking due to kids jumping out in front of you on the school run. This is usually when the brakes are cold. So, i have come to enjoy a pad with little to no fade and a nice early bite. Essentially i like to stop on a pin drop and not risk locking up as much as possible. When i'm not town driving, my weekends are saved for b-road blasts in the cotswolds/staffs and Wales. So braking fairly hard in association with the type of twisty turny roads.

I've been told over on the tech forum that EBC is my issue - which i could accept - and that Drilled/Grooved discs are pointless on a roadcar not having heavy track use. Which again is fair.

So i am wondering what setup i should be looking to put on the car. I want early / cold bite. Not much debris. Not much in way of noise and a set of discs that can take regular hard use should i choose but are happy about town as well.

I'll be posting the same question in civinfo forum incase any crossover.

Thanks in advance.

Personally, I would recommend Genuine Honda discs and pads, About £150 for fronts.

I bought my FN2 on fresh OEM Honda stuff and was surprised how well they held up, Discs are great quality too with a nice protective coating on the centres.

I have been through all sorts of race/track pads on a number of circuits and was impressed with these if your not bothered about going on circuits and prefer a lower dust pad. My mum recently acquired the car and we put the same again on, Great initial bite and good resistance to high temps for normal road pad.

Could also try Dixcel ES pads, These are great value for money and great for road use, like an OEM+ pad.

For your needs, oem discs and pads are more than adequate. Cox motors is a great site for genuine Honda parts.

In the end i opted for a slotted disc and red stuff pads

The car may end up doing a few more track days than i thought and it is also running a higher bhp than normal so thought that the oem ones would be good the slotted discs would help in the long run.

Initial thoughts. Good bite from cold and very little fade with heavier use.
