I’m looking at buying an fb2 type r but I’m after a full service history car..however even Honda dealers seem to be advertising cars not annually serviced, as FSH. For example https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
I’m I expecting too much?

The problem is the very last FN2 Type R's are now over 8 years old so very unlikely anybody is still having it serviced within the Honda main dealer network.

Do you need to buy from a dealer or can you buy private?

^ there may be a few that are still dealer-serviced, but the owner may not be the type to sell privately.
You may be lucky with a trade-in - have a word with the local Honda dealers, they may know of one.

Full Honda Service History actually puts me off, I'd rather have a full service history by a respected indie.

I have constantly, constantly, been let down by main dealer servicing at various locations. Even my recent purchase, the car had apparently been serviced by Honda only 100 miles ago so the Subaru dealer I bought the car from didn't service it again (despite my request and being built into the deal). I whipped the air filter and pollen filter out to find both black as night. No surprise really. They also use 5W30 oil to save a few quid despite most of my Honda cars calling for 0W20 or 0W30 etc.

My brother's Civic was put in every year for a full service at a different Honda main dealer. Just before he traded it in I checked it over and the oil was like treacle. The conning gits had never touched anything in all that time.

To to add a cherry to the cake when I went to the Honda main dealer two weeks ago to get AT fluid, ATF filter, DPS-F fluid and some crush washers only to find out that they don't change the AT filter when doing ATF changes for customers and they reuse crush washers, so don't stock them either.

Unbelievable.

Wouldn't look for a dealer serviced performance Honda, or take mine anywhere near one! Look for something that's been maintained by TGM, area motorsport, Dream automotive etc.

Don't be put off by an fn2 which doesn't have fhsh. An indie like tgm are very respectable and is where i get mine serviced.
Great cars and great engines.
