Jazz 2017 - not starting......... sometimes
Discussion
My Dad's 2017 Jazz sometimes won't start - normally after a run, not from cold.
The ignition lights are on but it doesn't fire up.
I discovered that if you let off the handbrake, and let the car roll - even just an inch forwards or backwards - it usually catches - sometimes takes a few goes.
Known fault?, or can someone point me in the right direction.
I would get the dealer to sort it, but with an intermittent fault......... so I'd like to be able to point them in the right direction, unless it's a fix I could do myself.
The car is fine with the auto stop/start, so I dismissed the starter motor as a culprit.

More info needed.
When you say it isn't starting - Is the immo light being switched off?
Is the starter motor turning?
I yes Is the engine cranking?
etc
Thanks for the reply. When you say it isn't starting - Is the immo light being switched off?

Basically - key in ignition, turn key - dash lights on, turn further to crank engine....nothing, not even a click from the starter motor.
Starter motor does not turn, engine is not cranked.
Key returned to normal....release handbrake and let it roll. Reapply handbrake, turn key to crank - it fires up...sometimes only after the second or third time I allow it to roll.
Something to do with the handbrake???
