Hi - struggling to find reviews of the audio system in the latest Type R model. Can anyone provide some feedback on what it is like? From the online configurator it looks like no upgrade is available so how does the stock audio measure up?

Thanks

I'm not in the best position to offer advice, but as no one else has bothered.......

I have the previous generation FK2 Type R (new in 2017) & didn't spec the GT so I have the standard music set up.

It's really quite good for a base unit. The DAB works really well and the functions are easy to use when driving.

In terms of sound, the base is more than adequate and in terms of a standard offering, I'd say it's better than most others I've had on cars that didn't already come with BOSE etc.

I understand that the current type R has a more advanced set up and additional features that were not available for mine. In addition, if you go for the GT then you will obviously get a bigger amp/more speakers etc, so unless you are massively into car music set ups and want something really special straight out of the factory, then I suspect the standard offerings, GT or base model, will be more than adequate.

I've got the FK2 as well, I can't imagine the FK8 being much different. Sound is alright, to be honest I didn't buy the car expecting a decent infotainment system. I would of gotten one of those fancy German things with their beige iPad-esque touch screen.

Turn the music down and listen to the VTEC then turbo boost!
