Honda Accord Type S 2.4 Cl7
Discussion
Hello everyone,
Thinking of purchasing an Accord 2.4 Type S. Anybody have any experience with these? I currently have 08 SEAT Ibiza FR TDI which has great torque but I only do short journeys so the engine barely gets warm most of the time and as you imagine its quite rough, being an old pd engine.
So I like the idea of a bigger more comfortable car, previously had an ST220 which was great but usually got 18-20mpg when driving normally. How does the Accord compare to the Mondeo?
I would be interested to hear from owners what the 2.4 is like on fuel, performance and handling.
Thanks in advance.

Type-S is a great looking car, the interior is a bit bland though. The 2.4 is not a bad engine but really comes alive with a K20 head (if you’re into modifying!)
I’ve driven a few and they’re good if you want a cruiser but they’re not a performance car like the ATR was.
The JDM Euro R is better, but probably twice the price and 10x as rare.

I've got a Type S dtec 180 so can't comment on the 2.4 but can say I like the car. It replaced a IS200 and was a nice step up in terms of tech and being more modern. For a car of its size and weight it handles quite well although if I do any decent amount of time driving my wife's mx5 and then jump in the Accord you feel its mass, but in isolation its a nice handling comfortable car that is great on the motorway but can still carry good speed on a country road. I know you ar coming from a fwd but I did notice alot of wheel spin exciting roundabouts and tight corners which I want used to after the Lexus, but after a change from the ditch finders it had on it to some Contis is about better.
Heres am unapologetic pic of mine.

Hi, just seen this.
We have a Type S 2.4 Tourer. A great car IMO. We have had it since new in 2003. That's nearly 15 years of ownership! I have never had a car that long before
Easy to drive, plenty of go when you put your foot down and very comfortable. Probably a bit of an old mans car, to be honest, but that suits me. It's also discreet, nobody gives it a second glance.
Only down side is fuel economy. We probably get low 30's mpg.
