DC5 starting issues
Discussion
If anyone is able to shed any light on this before I start throwing money around, it would be appreciated!
Three times in the last week or so my Dc5 has refused to start first time...at the turn of the key literally nothing happens, no cranking and i can't hear anything clicking.
The car had a new battery 3 months ago, and is running fine besides...it seems to start on the second or third attempt.
I have a few ideas as to the potential cause, but welcome any input.

Could be clutch switch or ignition switch?
this is definitely on the list. If it is a faulty clutch switch, would i be getting power to the dash when turning the key? EDIT- nvm, just tested trying to start it with foot off the clutch and do get power to the dash.
It seems when it happens that I get no power to the dash whatsoever...I can replicate it by leaving the immobiliser tag in the house, so i've swapped to the spare tag now to see if that stops it.
I'm starting to strongly suspect the immobiliser.

Just for closure's sake, it was the immobiliser.
Had a new cobra unit fitted the other week, looked like the cheap one fitted when the car was imported some 11 years back had just started to give up.
Was it a Hamilton & Palmer one? My EP3 has just had the same thing (along with the alarm randomly going off at 3am in the morning)Had a new cobra unit fitted the other week, looked like the cheap one fitted when the car was imported some 11 years back had just started to give up.
I have a Toad Ai606 being fitted in the next few weeks.

it doesn't help that both it and the cobra alarm that was on the car when i bought it were badly fitted...the built in immobiliser on the cobra alarm was also wired in, so i effectively had two immobilisers, which would have confused the car further.
shortly after i bought it i had to have the alarm severed from the central locking as it was randomly locking and unlocking itself while driving AND parked up! This in turn killed the battery.
That's £600 spent since ownership just on sorting alarm and immobiliser issues!
