2007 Honda Jazz tight steering
Discussion
Any opinions or advice here would be appreciated. My mother has a 2007 Jazz 1.2. It has lived its life from new on a small Scottish island. I have just driven it 750 miles back to Kent, taking its total mileage to 15,000.
The steering seems to need constant correction to straighten up after any turning of the wheel. It won't self centre. Feels fine otherwise, is light to park & I would say responds as it should, other than not self centring. Tyre pressures are fine & tyres in good condition.
Is this a common fault? Any lubrication points that need attention or adjustments that can be made?
I wonder if it's down to being exposed to the sea air?
Any advice would be appreciated.

There's been a number of Jazzes (Jazzs, Jiz?) of that age in the Noisy family. My current sheddy Mcshedface is a 2006 1.2 with 97k miles. It can exhibit those symptoms randomly mildly but not often. Partner had a 2008 1.4 which did this after 400miles/7 hours of driving only. Then it was very stiff indeed around the straight ahead.
Internet opinion seemed to be that there may be some reset process a garage can do to recalibrate the power steering. Or get a new rack!
Shed solution is not to care, not broken enough. Partner traded hers in anyway and trips of that length are rare. Slopey shoulder solutions both!
Does yours do it all the time or after some distance?
regards,
Jet
